Privacy Policy

Information We Collect

We collect minimal data to make the App work. Here is exactly what we collect and why:

• Apple Sign In credentials: When you sign in with Apple, we receive an anonymous user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We use this solely for authentication.
• Location data: The App requests location access only while in use ("When In Use") to show your position on the map and display nearby events, places, and alerts. We do not track your location in the background, and location data is not stored on our servers.
• Calendar access: If you choose to add an event to your calendar, the App requests permission to write to your device calendar. We do not read or store your calendar data.
• Local preferences: The App stores your settings and preferences (such as notification preferences and display options) locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
• Account data: Your authentication identifier is stored in our backend to associate your account with any saved preferences or favorites.

How We Use Your Information

• Provide core App features: local events, places, alerts, and weather information for Snohomish County
• Display your location on the map so you can find nearby content
• Add events to your device calendar when you request it
• Maintain your account and saved preferences
• Respond to support requests

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App's core functionality.

Data Storage & Security

SnoLocal uses Supabase as its backend service. Supabase provides database hosting with encryption at rest and in transit. Our backend stores public content (events, places, and alerts for Snohomish County) along with your account identifier and any saved preferences.

Local preferences are stored on-device via UserDefaults and are protected by your device's built-in security. Location data is processed on-device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Authentication is handled through Apple Sign In, which provides industry-standard security including two-factor authentication support.

Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Apple Sign In: For secure authentication. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Supabase: For backend data storage and API services. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Apple MapKit: For map display. Subject to Apple's terms of service.

We do not use any third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, advertising frameworks, or data brokers. There are no ads in SnoLocal.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Account deletion: You can delete your account at any time from Profile > Delete Account within the App. This permanently removes your account data from our servers.
• Revoke permissions: You can revoke location or calendar access at any time through your device's Settings > Privacy menu.
• Data export: If you would like a copy of the data we hold about your account, contact us at support@snolocal.app and we will provide it within 30 days.
• Stop using Apple Sign In: You can revoke SnoLocal's access to your Apple ID from Settings > Apple ID > Sign-In & Security > Sign in with Apple.

Children's Privacy

SnoLocal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@snolocal.app and we will promptly delete it.

Data We Do Not Collect

For clarity, SnoLocal does not collect:

• Background location data
• Contacts, photos, or other device data
• Browsing history or app usage analytics
• Device identifiers for advertising (IDFA)
• Health, financial, or biometric data

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by updating the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
